The Wonderful 101 coming to Wii U on Sept. 15

The Wonderful 101, originally announced as a Wii U title scheduled to hit during the console's launch window, will release on Sept. 15 in North America, it was announced during today's Nintendo Direct. The game will hit European shores even earlier on Aug. 23 and in Japan Aug. 24. The title is in development from Platinum Games, under the hand of game director Hideki Kamiya. The game was one of four titles that missed the Wii U's launch window, alongside Pikmin 3, Game & Wario and Wii Fit U.

The Wonderful 101 developers focus on fun over length, says Hideki Kamiya

Game director Hideki Kamiya took to Twitter to describe his development philosophy behind the upcoming Wii U title The Wonderful 101, writing that he is focused on fun, not length. In the controversial tweet that stirred up quite a response from fans, Kamiya suggested the game is not aimed at users looking for a long-lasting title. Many Twitter users took this to mean the new title won't take very long to finish. "If u hate to finish a game the next day u buy it, u better not play TW101," he wrote. "I focus on how it is fun, not how long it lasts till the ending." Nintendo's PAX East 2013 lineup includes Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Nintendo is bringing a handful of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles to PAX East 2013, including major upcoming games such as Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the company announced today. Nintendo's PAX East slate features seven Wii U titles and nine 3DS games, as well as the Wii Street U app. The lineup contains a mix of unreleased titles and games that are already available. Four 'launch window' Wii U titles not listed in Nintendo Q1 release calendar (update)

Four of the most anticipated Wii U games of 2013 — Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101 and Wii Fit U — were previously announced as "launch window" titles for the console, but Nintendo said today they would launch in the first six months of the year. Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced launch dates and release windows for dozens of Wii U, Wii and 3DS titles launching in the first quarter of 2013 ending March 31 — which is also the end of the "launch window" laid out by the company following the Wii U's announcement. The four aforementioned Wii U games were not listed with dates in the press release; instead, Nintendo said the titles "will arrive in the first half of the year." The press release also made no mention of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which launched on 3DS...

Lego City: Undercover coming March 18, Monster Hunter on March 19, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on March 24

Nintendo is bringing Lego City: Undercover to the Wii U on March 18, with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate set to be released the following day for both Wii U and 3DS and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon hitting 3DS on March 24, helping to kick off Nintendo's spring 2013 lineup, the company announced today. Four more titles are scheduled to hit the Wii U library in the first half of 2013, including Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101 and Wii Fit U. Project P-100 re-named The Wonderful 101 for global Wii U launch

Project P-100 is now re-named The Wonderful 101, and will be coming to Wii U from developer Platinum Games, it was announced today via the Nintendo Direct presentation. The upcoming title will allow users to control an army of pint-size, cartoony super heroes as they defend Earth against swarms of aliens and giant robots, while aiding helpless citizens. Platinum Games' Project P-100 was initially announced as a part of the launch window lineup for the new console system during this year's E3. The Wii U is schedule to arrive in North America on November 18th, in Europe on November 30th, and in Japan on December 8th. Platinum Games is also currently developing Bayonetta 2 for exclusive release on the system.

Project P-100 for Wii U saves E3 with a pint-sized team of avengers

Easily the most pleasant surprise for the Wii U at E3 2012 was Project P-100, the newest action game from some of the developers behind Bayonetta, Okami and Viewtiful Joe. Project P-100 is the latest from Platinum Games, which is also hard at work on Anarchy Reigns and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It's directed by Hideki Kamiya, whose credits include Resident Evil 2 and the Viewtiful Joe series, and published by Nintendo. From a distance, the action game looks vaguely like Nintendo's Pikmin series, giving the player control of more than a dozen heroes at once, sending them into battle to clobber an alien threat.
