Silicon Knights unloads property, closes office, continues battle with Epic Games

Too Human developer Silicon Knights, still battling a $4.45 million judgment that favored Epic Games, is down to just a few employees, has closed its office and has sold off office equipment and game assets, Polygon has learned. Calls to the company went unanswered, as the phone number listed on Silicon Knights' website appears to have been disconnected. But the studio's chief financial officer, Mike Mays, tells Polygon that the few remaining Silicon Knights employees are "very busy" and the studio is "definitely alive." The company laid off most of its employees last summer, a source tells Polygon. Too Human game and content missing from Xbox Live Marketplace (update)

Developer Silicon Knights' action RPG Too Human and all related content have been pulled from the Xbox Live Marketplace, as pointed out by a tweet from Xbox Live user "sacra" earlier this morning. The game is no longer available through Games on Demand and the demo, themes and other Xbox Live extras are gone as well. A search for the game through the Xbox 360 turns up only a trailer dated from E3 2007 and the game's home page on the Marketplace website lists no content for purchase. In May last year, Silicon Knights lost its legal dispute with Epic Games in which the developer claimed Epic had used Unreal Engine 3 licensing costs to fund development on Gears of War instead of paying for engine improvements.
