In a presentation at GDC 2013, Creative Assembly showed off Rome 2 with the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, one of the game's historical stand-alone battles. This scenario puts players into a challenging situation, since Tuetoburg is notorious as a battle where Roman forces got completely destroyed by Germanic barbarians. In this virtual re-creation of that event, players are tasked with getting as many of the Roman troops out alive as possible in an ambush they're fated to lose. Immediately leaning toward its inevitable outcome, the narrow forest map begins with Roman forces beset by flaming boulders rolled at them by the barbarians. Sega will bundle 2011 PC strategy title Total War: Shogun 2 with its two expansions for the Total War: Shogun 2 Gold Edition, set to release in North America on March 5 and Europe on March 8 at select retailers, the company announced today. Both versions of the Gold Edition will include all content from the original Shogun 2 and the expansions. Rise of the Samurai, released in 2011, is set 400 years prior to Shogun 2 and is based on the events surrounding the institution of the first shogunate and the rise of Samurai as a ruling class. 'Total War: Shogun 2' Assembly Kit brings mods to Steam

The Assembly Kit, a toolset for modifying developer The Creative Assembly's real-time strategy game Total War: Shogun 2, is now available on Steam. The Assembly Kit comes as part of a free title update, which includes Steam Workshop integration, allowing players to share their mods with the new Mod Manager tool. Modders can also alter the look and feel of existing units, create new units, and edit database values governing campaign start positions and game logic. Shogun 2 now allows players to create custom single players battles, and the title update includes an example created by the developers. 'Total War: Rome' available for $1 during Steam's Total War Weekend sale

Steam users can get strategy title Total War: Rome – Gold Edition, which includes the "Barbarian Invasion" expansion pack, for $1 during the Total War sale this weekend, Steam announced today. All games in the historically-themed PC strategy series are available at 25 percent off, including Empire: Total War, Medieval 2: Total War, Napoleon: Total War, Total War Battles: Shogun, Total War: Shogun 2, and Total War: Shogun 2 – Fall of the Samurai. Alternatively, players can buy all seven games in one pack, the Total War Master Collection, for $31.98. The bundle also includes all Total War-themed items for multiplayer first-person shooter Team Fortress 2 and massively multiplayer online role-playing game Spiral Knights.
