1 CommentTransformers: Fall of Cybertron Easter Eggs unearthed, full of fan service
By Michael McWhertor on Dec 20, 2012 12.20.12
High Moon Studios' third-person shooter Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is stuffed with Transformers fan service, much of it tucked away behind secret walls and out of plain sight. In a new post on Activision blogger Dan Amrich's website One of Swords, those secrets are exposed with detailed instructions. Some of the Easter Eggs in Fall of Cybertron are simply cameos by Transformers like Rumble and Laserbeak, while others refer to classic gags and references to the original cartoon. In one, Decepticon Soundwave appears hidden as a lamppost — not a boombox — as he did in an early episode of the Transformers cartoon. In another, Grimlock's apron and bow tie, another TV show reference, appears hidden in a secret room. There's plenty more hidden away in the game, as detailed by High...

Last week, Polygon spoke with High Moon's Matt Tieger about the "Dinobots" DLC, which adds the dinosaur robots to the game's multiplayer and character creator. Earlier this year, High Moon told Polygon how the studio saved the Dinobots. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The game's "relentless iteration on its own design and its constantly expanding scope set it apart from other third-person shooters," according Polygon's recent review. You can take a look at the game's DLC offerings in the video...
'Transformers: Fall of Cybertron' Dinobots hit multiplayer September 11th
By Alexa Ray Corriea on Sep 04, 2012 09.04.12
High Moon Studios is adding the Dinobots to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron's competitive multiplayer mode on September 11th as downloadable content, director Matt Tieger told Polygon. The "Dinobot Destructor Pack" adds the Dinobots for use in the character builder for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The pack includes tyrannosaurus-rex Grimlock, triceratops Slug, stegosaurus Snarl, and pteranodon Swoop. A price has not yet been announced. "We want to give players the power to express themselves in terms of what they think transformers should be, not just how we've made them," Tieger said. High Moon's plans to release more Transformers that are essentially a collection of parts for the character builder, granting players access to their individual parts once they have purchased them. "I...

28 CommentsTransformers: Fall of Cybertron review: wheels of steel
By Arthur Gies on Aug 21, 2012 08.21.12
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is easily the best thing to happen to the property since, well, Transformers: War for Cybertron. War for Cybertron pulled off a surprising feat for an off-the-radar licensed title, nailing the shape-shifting dynamic of said robots in disguise and using it to make a shooter that felt different from everything around it. It was fast, it was violent, and it sold Transformers like no other game ever had. Ignoring 2011's disastrous Dark of the Moon - and really, let's do that - Fall of Cybertron marks High Moon's second crack at the Transformers prequel universe it created, and it has managed an impressive second act. The fundamentals present in War for Cybertron have returned (minus one surprising omission) but High Moon has gone several steps further. By...
