Badland, a side-scrolling action-adventure game from ex-Trials Evolution developers, recently received 10 free new levels with more due in late June or early July, according to an update on the game's official site. In Badland, the player controls a forest inhabitant who embarks on an adventure to find out why the once idyllic environment is becoming increasingly dangerous. The game features a selection of power-ups, such as duplication, speed-up, slowtime and a juggernaut-like power-up. Badland includes competitive four-player local multiplayer on the same device and is compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Ubisoft's annual sales rose 18 percent and its operating income increased by 79 percent, driven in part by strong sales of games in the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry franchises, according to the company's financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013. The report highlights "revenue generated from games for core gamers," which was up 60 percent year-over-year. Ubisoft called out Assassin's Creed 3, which sold more than 12.5 million units, and Far Cry 3, which sold more than 6 million units, as driving the increase. Revenue from casual games shrunk 32 percent year-over-year, though Just Dance 4 sold 8.5 million units. Ubisoft's total sales for Assassin's Creed 3 have now passed the 12 million mark worldwide, while Far Cry 3 sales are up over 4.5 million units, the French publisher announced today in its third-quarter financial report. The sales numbers include units shipped to retailers as well as copies sold digitally. Assassin's Creed 3 is available on PlayStation Network and in the Wii U eShop. Over 3.5 million copies of the game were sold during its launch week at the end of October, and in mid-December, Ubisoft announced sales of more than 7 million units worldwide. Redlynx, the Ubisoft studio best known for its work on Trials Evolution, is teaming up with Lenovo to create three games exclusively for the IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC, a 27-inch widescreen all-in-one desktop machine. The family friendly games — DrawRace2: Racing Evolved (multi-touch, multi-user racing game), King of Opera (a social game) and Raiding Company (a dual-stick shooter) — will come pre-loaded on the Horizon Table PC and will be offered exclusively for free on the device. The Horizon Table PC is being shown at CES this week and boasts a 27-inch, 1080p 10-finger touchscreen and Intel's Core i7 processors. For today only, the price of Trials HD drops from 800 MS Points to 400 MS Points. Trials Evolution is discounted 33 percent, from 1200 MS Points to 800 MS Points. Dozens of Xbox 360 games are scheduled to go on sale starting Dec. 18 as part of Microsoft's Countdown to 2013 event first announced by Major Nelson in a round-up of Xbox Marketplace updates. Plush toys on roller coasters from the creators of 'Trials Evolution'

The developer behind Trials Evolution is releasing a physics game with fluffy plush toys riding 26 roller coasters to be released later this year. Nutty Fluffies is an iOS game where players control their roller coaster by touching parts of the screen to control the coaster's gas and brakes. Players will have to maneuver their coasters to pick up power-ups, jump-jets, and magnets on various different tracks. Each coaster has its unique style and character, ranging from wooden roller coasters to super-fast, high-tech coasters. Players will try to collect hearts and earn coins to build and unlock more trains and tracks. Nutty Fluffies is due sometime this year.
'Trials Evolution - Origin of Pain' DLC coming this fall to XBLA

Trials Evolution - Origin of Pain, the first downloadable content available for the RedLynx-developed Trials Evolution, is scheduled to release this fall on XBLA, Ubisoft announced today. This upcoming downloadable content will feature 36 new tracks, new editor objects, alongside a new BMX bike, the first time a bike mode has been included in a Trials title. Trials Evolution - Origin of Pain will be made available for 400 Microsoft Points. This follows the news of the PC release of Trials Evolution: Gold Edition, scheduled to hit in early 2013.
'Trials Evolution: Gold Edition' headed to PC in 2013

Trials Evolution: Gold Edition, the PC version of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade title Trials Evolution, is in development for a release in early 2013, Ubisoft announced today. The upcoming PC game will feature all original game content, including online multiplayer, global leaderboards, and player-created content. Gold Edition will in addition include all content from Trials HD, and in total will contain over 120 tracks, skill games, and multiplayer levels. Developer RedLynx previously brought the series to PC with the release of Trials 2 SE in 2008.
'Minecraft' helmet skins come to 'Hybrid'

Developers 5th Cell (Scribblenauts) and Mojang have teamed up to bring Minecraft helmet skins to Hybrid. Players who reach level 20 in the upcoming first-person shooter, to be released as part of Xbox LIVE's Summer of Arcades special, will be able to unlock one of two Minecraft-themed helmets based on their faction: the Variation faction will receive the Creeper helmet, the Paladins will receive a "Steve" themed helmet. Minecraft skins are also available for Trials Evolution. Hybrid is expected to launch August 8.
