Tribes: Ascend Game of the Year Edition launching February 15 with classes, perks and weapons

Tribes: Ascend Game of the Year Edition is set for release on Feb. 15, giving players the option to unlock every class, perk and weapon in Hi-Res Studios' free-to-play online shooter with one purchase, according to a press release from the developer. The Game of the Year Edition includes content from the 10 expansions released since it launched in April 2012. For $29.99 (or $19.99 for Tribes VIPs, a title granted to everyone who makes real money purchases in the game), players can unlock over 100 weapons, all of the game's 9 classes and each of its 21 perks. It will be available to purchase through the game's official website and Steam. "Nothing changes for players that are enjoying the game with the free-to-play model," said Todd Harris, Hi-Rez COO. Tribes: Ascend update brings new guns and maps to the party

Free-to-play online shooter Tribes: Ascend has a new update that adds the Twinfusor, a two-disc shooter, to the game's packed arsenal. In a new video from Hi-Rez Studios, co-founder Todd Harris walks players through the update, which includes a modified version of the "Stonehenge" map, a port of the popular Tribes map "Dangerous Crossing," and a new indoor capture-the-flag map, "Permafrost." The video also shows the new Party system, in which players can create parties and chats in Quick Match, and a slew of skins and other cosmetic items. Tribes: Ascend was released on April 12 for PC.

Tribes: Ascend is out today and free-to-play

Hi-Rez Studios' fast-paced, free-to-play shooter Tribes: Ascend is available to download and play online on PC today. The title, which revives the blisteringly fast jetpack-and-skiing action of the long dormant Tribes franchise, gives players access to a number of classes, maps and social features with their complimentary download. Additional loadouts can either be purchased or unlocked, while Hi-Rez hopes to drive the game's economy with purchasable cosmetic items for your character.
