World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition retail version begins rolling out Aug. 12

World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition Combat Ready Starter Pack, the retail package for the free-to-play game, will launch worldwide beginning Aug. 12 in North and South America for $19.99, announced today. The retail release of World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will launch Asia-Pacific and Europe (for £15.99) on Aug.14 and Aug. 29, respectively. The disc release for the free-to-play game is packaged with 1,500 in-game gold; a German premium vehicle, the Panzer 38H Tier II light tank; 200,000 in-game silver; three days of premium account time, which provides 50 percent boosts to earning silver and XP; and a 30-day Xbox Live Gold membership. For the duration of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Wargaming has introduced a new soccer mode into World of Tanks where players can go head-to-head in a soccer match between tanks. World of Tanks Blitz launches globally on iOS June 26's upcoming mobile offering World of Tanks Blitz is coming globally to iOS devices on June 26, the company confirmed to Polygon today. The new mobile release is based on the free-to-play military multiplayer game World of Tanks, but will offer up to 7v7 action within player-versus-player matches at four minutes each. Players will also be able to lead forces from the U.S., U.S.S.R. and Germany. The development team expects that despite the short-length of matches, players are likely to spend over an hour on the game each day. World of Tanks Blitz will additionally feature in-game chat in real-time. The game, like Wargaming's Windows PC release, will be free-to-play. Blitz was first announced last year.

World of Tanks is getting a soccer mode for the FIFA World Cup

In light of this year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Wargaming will introduce a new soccer mode into World of Tanks where players can go head to head in a soccer match between tanks, Polygon was told today. The World Football Championship mode is available until July 13 and features a special tank designed for soccer gameplay, new achievements and new team-based gameplay. The mode features 3v3 matches on a reworked, soccer field version of Himmelsdorf, and lasts seven minutes per match. Players should aim to score goals using their vehicles and shells. Users who try the mode out over the next month will be awarded the Football Player 2014 medal for their performance.

World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition gets Soviet Steel update June 3, retail version in August

World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition developer Wargaming West will release the free Soviet Steel update for the military combat game on June 3, the studio announced today. Billed as the game's largest update yet, Soviet Steel will add 29 U.S.S.R. vehicles — light, medium and heavy tanks, and tank destroyers — to World of Tanks. World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition 1.1 update adds weather system, vehicles and maps

The latest addition to World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition, the 1.2 update, introduces a new weather systems, new vehicles and new maps. The weather system adds rain, snow and night-time to the game. Rainstorm variant are now added to three maps, two maps receive the night variant, while one map gets the snowstorm variant. Two new maps are also introduced in the game, the Fisherman's Bay and Abbey. Update 1.1 features six new American-themed tanks, the M8A1, T49, M18 Hellcat, T25/2, T28 Prototype, T30 and T110E4. World of Tanks Frontiers update to introduce Historical Battles April 17

World of Tanks will receive a Historical Battles game mode and updated visuals with the game's Frontiers patch on April 17, Wargaming announced today. According to Wargaming, the update is the beginning of the "transformation" for World of Tanks this year. In Historical Battle mode, players engage in "legendary tank encounters" from World War II. Tanks have been historically outfitted for three battles: Operation Spring Awakening, the Battle of Kursk and the Ardennes Breakthrough. World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition 1.1 update adds crews and more

The latest addition to World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition, the 1.1 update, gives players access to new vehicles, maps and the game's crew options. Crews must be assigned every time players purchase a new tank. Each crew has different skills; players can choose whichever crew they desire, though the game's "best option" will be highlighted for easy selection. When a crew is reassigned to a tank or class, it must be retrained through schooling or battlefield experience. Crews can only be assigned to tanks from their own country. World of Tanks video details clan fortifications historical battles

World of Tanks will add new ways for players to build and battle this year, and a developer diary released today on the game's official YouTube channel explains what's headed to the game. Developer will add a historical battle mode with the game's 9.0 update. To give each side a fighting chance, the developer wants to ensure that matches are balanced in a way that real-life battles weren't. "One of the solutions is unequal team numbers," a developer said.
