Worms: Revolution review: crawling through the dirt

Worms revolves around precision. The best players will tell you that knowing exactly how a grenade will bounce off the landscape or whether your worm can backflip onto a higher ledge is the difference between a win and a loss. The introduction of 3D landscapes throws all of this precision out the window. There are too many variables and no easy way to tell whether a slight slant in the landscape will have any effect on your grenade. That ledge? Apparently I can't jump onto it, because there's some tiny, near-invisible outcropping of polygons preventing it from happening. When the environments were in 2D, every change in the landscape was crisp, clear and obvious. If you were good enough you could plan every jump. In Worms: Revolution, that sort of precision is impossible. ...

Worms coming to PS Vita 'later this year,' says Team17

The long-running Worms franchise will be available on PlayStation Vita in 2013 as "the ultimate handheld console version" of a Worms game, said developer Team17 in an interview with Red Bull UK. "One big Worms game we can mention is a game for the PS Vita that we are working closely with Sony on," said Team17 managing director Debbie Bestwick. "This will be the ultimate handheld console version releasing later this year." It's unclear if the PS Vita title will be a port of the franchise's most recent entry, Worms: Revolution, which launched last October on Windows PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Worms Revolution 'Mars Pack' add-on content coming Nov. 7

The second downloadable content pack for Team17's annelid-themed artillery game Worms: Revolution will arrive across all platforms on Nov. 7, the developer announced today. The "Mars Pack" will add five new single-player missions set on Martian terrain, as well as a Mars Theme background for use in local and online multiplayer matches. Additional content includes news weapons — Buffalo, Poison Gun, Lightning Strike and Crate Strike — and a new set of trophies and achievements. The Mars Theme also comes with a few baubles for customization: two new trinkets, two accessories, a new Spaceship gravestone and a Mars-themed soundbank. The "Mars Pack" will be available on Xbox 360 for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) and $4.99/€4.99/£3.99 on PlayStation 3 and PC.
