Wikipad, the company behind the 7-inch Android tablet of the same name, is working on a detachable gamepad for mobile devices called the Gamevice, the company announced today. The Gamevice brings controls akin to a console gamepad or dedicated gaming handheld — dual analog sticks, a D-pad, four face buttons and four shoulder buttons — to smartphones and other mobile devices. As seen in the product image above, the device sits in the center of a shell with the controls split to either side; the shell expands and collapses to wrap around the device. Wikipad is producing two different versions of the Gamevice, one for Android devices and another for Windows 8 devices. As for a model that supports iOS, Wikipad president Fraser Townley said, "We have not forgotten other important OS...

Star Wars Pinball fans can catch a glimpse of the upcoming Return of the Jedi table in a trailer released today by developer Zen Studios. The table features objects inspired by the 1983 film, including an AT-ST and a hologram of the Death Star II, and it takes place in the forest on Endor. Missions played on the table are based on scenes from the movie, such as the lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and (spoiler alert!) his father, Darth Vader. The Return of the Jedi table is part of Zen's Balance of the Force pack, which will function as an add-on for Star Wars Pinball as well as the studio's existing pinball platforms, Zen Pinball and Pinball FX.

Star Wars Pinball, the upcoming batch of downloadable content and standalone games from Zen Studios, features a table based on what most folks would argue to be the best film in the franchise: The Empire Strikes Back. That table is showcased in a new trailer released today, posted above. Its players will need to keep their wits about them to keep the pinball on the board — the Empire Strikes Back table has a ton of moving parts and interactive scenes ripped straight from Episode 5. Two more tables, based on Boba Fett and The Clone Wars, are included in the pack, but have yet to be detailed. Star Wars Pinball launches later this month, and will be a standalone app on iOS and Android. It will also be sold as DLC for Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX2 on all appropriate platforms.

Pinball FX2, Zen Studios' pinball simulation game, will receive four tables from the original Zen Pinball as DLC this Wednesday, Dec. 12, according to a post on PlayXBLA. For 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade, the Zen Classics DLC will include "Tesla," which is based on the turn-of-the-century scientist, "Shaman," which is filled with spin discs and ramp jumps, "El Dorado," which is filled with deadly traps and "V12," a hotrod-themed table. Each table includes updated graphics and physics. Last week, Zen Studios announced that Zen Pinball 2 will launch this month for Wii U on the Nintendo eShop. As it is on other platforms, the game will be available as a free download with paid DLC.
