One of the most interesting aspects of ZombiU is its asymmetric multiplayer mode, King of Zombies, which is highlighted in a new video released today by Ubisoft.
King of Zombies is a local competitive mode with one player on the GamePad and the person's opponent on a Wii Remote or Pro Controller. The person on the tablet uses the touchscreen to place different types of zombies across the multiplayer map, with strategic locations designed to take down the human player on the controller. Three different game types are available for the human: capturing flags, killing as many zombies as possible or staying alive for as long as possible.
"That's the very first idea that made us believe in the Wii U," says Guillaume Bruiner, senior producer at ZombiU developer Ubisoft Montpellier.
ZombiU is one of the most anticipated Wii U launch titles, and a new trailer showcases the ways in which players will use the GamePad to keep track of and fend off London's zombies.
In ZombiU, the GamePad can serve as a window into the world — a window players can move as they rotate to check for threats coming from all directions. The screen also lets players interact with the environment and manage their inventory for purposes such as crafting bombs.
ZombiU launches on Nov. 18 along with the Wii U.
The latest ZombiU trailer blurs the line between the real world and the game world by mixing live action footage with snippets from the game.
The video posted by Ubisoft shows the way multiplayer works and how the player with the Wii U GamePad can change the game for everyone else.
ZombiU will release on the Wii U on Nov. 18.
