Assassin's Creed 3: the first details revealed

Rumors, leaks and official box art point to Assassin's Creed 3 being set during the American Revolution. Ubisoft promises the official reveal is coming Monday, March 5. 4-player co-op in Assassin's Creed 3

Assassin's Creed 3 will include two-to-four-player online cooperative modes, according to the game's listing on The original database entry for the title not only referenced its returning "Online Multiplayer 2 - 8," but also that it would include "Online Co-op 2 - 4." The listing has since been revised to remove any mention of the co-op functionality — but not before eagle-eyed archivists at Eurogamer snagged a screencap.

We've contacted Ubisoft to find out if the listing is on the level. In the meantime, we suggest you really think about the implications of being stabbed by four...

Assassin's Creed 3 screens and details land on Reddit?

Five screenshots supposedly ripped from the colonial folds of Assassin's Creed 3 have been posted on Reddit, showing off the American Revolution backdrop in which the recently revealed title is set. Reddit user Dylanjosh did not cite the source of the uploaded images, but they certainly appear authentic. By which we mean: There is an assassin in all of them, and also, there's a guy who vaguely looks like George Washington.

Dylanjosh also posted a huge list of information from a now-pulled article on the Assassin's Creed Wikia, which was supposedly culled from the Game Informer cover story....

Assassin's Creed 3's American Revolution setting confirmed

Assassin's Creed 3 will see the war between the Assassins and Templars reach the events of the American Revolution, Game Informer has confirmed. The next installment in Ubisoft's stealth-action franchise is the focus of GI's April issue, the cover for which can be seen below.

This issue,...

In a press release statement, Ubisoft said, "We confirm that Ubisoft will announce all the details of Assassin's Creed III on Monday, March 5th at 5pm."

We've contacted Ubisoft to acquire as many details as we can get about the series' new setting. Stay tuned!

Assassin's Creed 3 Possibly Set During American Revolution

The next Assassin's Creed will take place during the American Revolution, if we're to believe a leaked image from the GameInformer website. The banner, for Assassin's Creed III, shows a new assassin standing alongside George Washington in a modified version of the famous patriotic painting, "Washington Crossing the Delaware"

The banner image, above, was quickly removed by GameInformer, but not before website Toastervision snapped a screencap.

The news buttresses a similar rumor posted early this morning on Kotaku. A tipster claiming to be a Best Buy employee provided the outlet with a...
