Portal 2 will receive a suite of level creation tools called the "Perpetual Testing Initiative" on the PC and Mac Steam platforms starting May 8th.
The "Perpetual Testing Initiative," which will be released as a free piece of DLC, will allow players to "easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles." The user-generated content tools are all embedded in-game, meaning players won't need to launch a separate application to whip up their own malicious challenges.
Created maps can be pushed to the Steam Workshop, where players will be able to peruse other creations and queue them to be downloaded and installed the next time Portal 2 is launched.
A Valve press release promises that more details will be added to the game's official website, but no information has been added at the time of this writing. Watch that space! (Spaaaaace!)
