Gears of War: Exile, long-rumored to be an on-rails Kinect-controlled shooter, was never officially announced, but it has been officially canceled, GameSpot reports.

"Let's just bury the hatchet now," Epic's Cliff Bleszinski told GameSpot in an interview. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled."

Bleszinski didn't go into any details about the game during the panel talk, but early last year Kotaku reported that the game was to be an on-rails Gears of War shooter. The game was set for a Spike TV Video Game Awards reveal but was pulled at the last minute.
