Game developer allowed to sue Beyonce over canceled rhythm game
Video game company Gate Five can go ahead with a lawsuit against Beyonce
Video game company Gate Five is clear to take its $100 million lawsuit against Beyonce to trial after the singer reportedly backed out of a $20 million deal, New York City Justice Charles Ramos ruled today.
According to the New York Post, Justice Ramos stated the singer was required to give the company notice regarding her exit from the production of the game, titled Starpower: Beyonce.
"You continue to negotiate right up until the time you pull the plug," said Ramos to the singer's lawyers. "That is not going to work with me."
Beyonce's lawyers argue Gate Five did not have financing for the title, despite the studio's contention that it was three days shy of signing a contract with a financier on December 6, 2010 when the singer backed out.
Gate Five lawyer Peter Gallagher stated he is "pleased" with the ruling.
So far Beyonce's lawyers decline to comment.
