GameStop now selling Steam Wallet

The Steam Wallet cards are similar to gift vouchers that allow people to buy Steam games using the funds on the card without the need for a credit card or online transactions. When images of the Steam Wallet cards first emerged last week, many GameStop retailers said it was the first they'd heard of them.

When we contacted a GameStop retailer today in Emeryville, California, a GameStop employee told us he was unaware of the existence of the Steam cards. The tipster who sent Polygon photos of the Steam Wallet displays asked to remain anonymous and did not reveal the location of the GameStop where he took the photographs.

We have contacted GameStop's head office for comment and will update this story when they respond.
