American 'Diablo 3' servers back up after an evening of errors

Diablo III's American servers are back up and available for play after being taken down for maintenance earlier today.

UPDATE at 2:28AM EDT: Blizzard reports that the American servers are back up. They will continue to monitor the servers closely throughout the night to ensure everything runs smoothly.

UPDATE at 1:00AM EDT: Blizzard announced on its message board at 9:50PM PDT that the problems with its American Diablo III servers will take approximately two hours to resolve.

The problem, which has kept players from logging into Diablo III, has been identified and Blizzard expects game services to be restored by 11:45PM PDT.

Blizzard apologized for the errors and delays and will continue to provide updates as they come.

UPDATE at 11:54PM EDT: Diablo III's American servers appear to be down again after reports of players being kicked out of the game and unable to sign back in. The error message being sent is Error 3003.

Blizzard's official message board that was being used to keep players up to date with the status of the servers also appear to be down at the time of writing, with visitors being greeted with the message: "The Blizzard family of websites is temporarily unavailable. Thank you for your patience."

The Blizzard Twitter account acknowledged at approximately 11:30PM EDT that they were looking into connection issues. At 11:54PM, they tweeted: "We're aware players may not be able to connect to the Americas region, or are having difficulty stay (sic) in-game. We are investigating."

The message posted by a community manager says that Blizzard will continue to monitor servers for additional issues and if players are experiencing errors they should visit the Technical Support Forum of the Big Report Forum for information.
