'Final Fantasy VII' Steam port possibly leaked, may include microtransactions
Final Fantasy VII may see an updated release for PC.
Final Fantasy VII may getting an updated PC release on Steam, according to a Google cache of the domain finalfantasyviipc.com, which is registered under the name of Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada.
The cache reveals a number of additions to the original 1998 PC version, including cloud save support and 36 new unlockable achievements. The post also mentions a feature called a "Character Booster," a system that sounds akin to microtransactions, that allows players to raise characters' HP, MP, and gil to maximum levels. The price of the game is listed as £7.99 / €9.99, or around $12.50.
Polygon reached out to Square Enix for confirmation, and a representative told us, "Regarding Final Fantasy VII - We don't have any news or information to announce at this time."
