Zynga announces synchronous multiplayer, other new features for Zynga.com

Zynga is bringing head-to-head multiplayer to Zynga.com.

Zynga revealed several new features for Zynga.com, including synchronous multiplayer, during its Zynga Unleashed 2012 press conference today.

The developer demoed the head-to-head multiplayer functionality with a game of Bubble Safari, which is available now and offers 90-second battles between four players.

Other features new to Zynga.com include zFriends, where players can "expand your social network" to become part of the more than 100 million people connected to the service since launch.

A platform-agnostic service called Social Stream that allows players to connect with friends to see and join their gaming activity, will join the website's offerings alongside both one-on-one and and group chat abilities.

On Zynga.com, player profiles will store lifetime records and game history while a technology called Fast Load allows players to launch games with minimal load times.
