Gore Verbinski and Microsoft announce 'Matter'

Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has a new Xbox 360 game.

As part of a series of three new game announcements in Microsoft's E3 press briefing this morning, the company announced a new game called Matter from Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski. A brief trailer showed a Portal-like aesthetic and shape-shifting environments, but we know little about what the game will include beyond that, nor which studio is developing the game.

Given that Microsoft announced it alongside games from Signal Studios and Twisted Pixel, it seems possible that Matter will be an Xbox Live Arcade game rather than a retail title, but we don't have platform details just yet.

Update: Microsoft has confirmed the game will be coming to XBLA.
