EA confirms co-op play for 'Dead Space 3'

EA confirms "Dead Space 3" for February 2013 release.

At the company's E3 press conference this afternoon, EA confirmed Dead Space 3 for release in February 2013 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game will feature fully-integrated drop-in/drop-out cooperative play.

Gameplay will range from tight, in-door quarters to sprawling landscapes. All environments are explorable and present new challenges, including all new Necromorphs, enormous boss battle creatures, and misguided fellow humans.

Series hero Issac Clarke is stranded on Tau Volantis, an icy planet riddled with Necormorphs that may hold the key to quelling the Necromorph infestation. Issac, along with co-op character Earthgov Sergeant John Carver, must battle through deadly subzero conditions against highly-evolved Necromorphs as they search for answers. Players that choose co-op play will experience additional story elements and gameplay mechanics unique to Sergeant Carver.
