ToeJam & Earl reportedly up next for Sega's Vintage Collection series
ToeJam and Earl rumored for Sega Vintage Collection treatment.
Sega's funky alien duo ToeJam and Earl may be making their way to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, as the original 16-bit games are rumored to be next in line for Sega's Vintage Collection line.
Siliconera reports that ToeJam & Earl and ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron — originally published for the Sega Genesis in the early 1990s — will be included in a future Sega Vintage Collection release, Sega's brand of downloadable re-releases. Previous Sega Vintage Collection releases have bundled Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Monster World games. The Vintage Collection ports, developed by emulation experts M2, are often faithful to the original console releases.
ToeJam and Earl's first two games are already available for purchase on the Wii Virtual Console.
Sega has made a concerted effort to digitally re-release its most beloved titles, including Jet Set Radio, Nights into Dreams, and Guardian Heroes, on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and PC in recent years as part of its new strategy.
