Final Fantasy, the first installment of Square Enix's long-lived role playing game franchise, is available today on Android platforms through Google Play.
First released in 1987 for the NES, the game's Android incarnation, like its iOS predecessor, includes a graphical update to the original 8-bit turn-based RPG and a touch-optimized control scheme.
"Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster," according to the games listing on Google Play. "Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all Final Fantasy games to come."
Final Fantasy is available for purchase now though Google Play for $6.99.
