'Star Wars: The Old Republic' subscribers fall to under one million

"Star Wars: The Old Republic" has slipped to under one million subscribers.

In an earnings call today EA stated that Star Wars: The Old Republic slipped to under one million subscribers, contibuting to the company's decision to make the game free to play.

The number of members has fallen from 1.3 million last quarter to below one million this first fiscal quarter of 2013. In EA's February earnings call the company reported that only 500,000 subscribers were needed to see The Old Republic as "substantially profitable." In this afternoon's call the company said that the massively multiplayer online title is still "well above" that figure.

EA announced earlier today that Star Wars: The Old Republic will go free to play this November.
