Europa Universalis 4 will revive Stockholm-based Paradox Interactive's long-dormant hardcore strategy game franchise, the studio just announced.
According to the announcement broadcast this morning on the studio's Twitch.tv stream, Europa Universalis 4 was known internally as "Project Truman." The upcoming grand strategy game is based on the company's internal engine, and includes a trade system, war, empire building, and more historic lands than any previous Paradox game.
The Europa Universalis series launched in 2000, pitting European nations against each other through centuries of battle and diplomacy. The series' last numbered sequel saw a 2007 release, while Europa Universalis Rome followed in 2008.
