Killzone Mercenary, the first PS Vita iteration of Guerrilla Games' franchise, debuted with a live-action trailer during Sony's Gamescom 2012 press conference today.

Killzone: Mercenary, the first PS Vita iteration of Guerrilla Games' franchise, debuted with a live-action trailer at Sony's Gamescom 2012 press conference today.

Guerrilla is developing Mercenary. The trailer did include some gameplay footage of typical first-person Killzone action, augmented by touchscreen swipe controls for melee combat. Jim Ryan, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, called it "a first-person shooter that would simply not be possible on any other platform."

Update: The trailer is available to watch in its entirety below. According to Guerrilla Games, Killzone: Mercenary runs on the same engine that powered Killzone 3. It is currently set for release in 2013.
