See 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's' new shoutcasting tools in action

Watch us shoutcast a multiplayer match of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 with Treyarch's resident eSports advisor Mike Rufail.

Call of Duty developer Treyarch is getting behind eSports in a major way with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, building divisional League Play, live streaming, and shoutcasting into its the futuristic first-person shooter. Black Ops 2's built-in shoutcasting features are designed to give commentators a set of simple, broadcast quality tools with the goal of improving the production of streamed and televised eSports events.

During a recent visit to Treyarch in Santa Monica, we had an opportunity to shoutcast — or CODcast, as Activision has branded it — a live Black Ops 2 multiplayer match. Treyarch's resident eSports advisor Mike "hastr0" Rufial showed us how it's done, providing expert color commentary alongside the multiplayer carnage.

Watch as we walk through the many features of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's shoutcasting suite, previewing the score panel, picture-in-picture display, customized HUD, and listen-in mode.
