Media Molecule is ramping up for another big project

Call it a hunch, but I think when Media Molecule's Alex Evans told me that two-thirds of his studio is busying themselves by making tea, he was hinting that the studio behind LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway are scaling up for another big project.

"How many people are working on Tearaway," I asked, during an interview about the recently announced papercraft adventure game for the Vita.

"15," Evans replied.

"And how many people are working at your studio?"

"47, and we are hiring," Evans replied with a grin.

When I pressed him to find out what exactly those other 32 people were doing, Evans was coy.

"Littlebigplanet has had a natural progression toward other studios working on it," he said. "Which gives us time for Tearaway ... and a lot of people to make tea. We’re also hiring for tea makers as well, so if you have tea-making skills you should apply."

Hopping over to the Media Molecule website, one can find applications for a number of jobs, several of which don't appear to be for Tearaway.

"At Media Molecule, we are currently working on brand new IPs, even more ambitious than LBP was when it was conceived 6 years ago," one reads.

Evans decline to talk at all about this new, big project.
