'Mass Effect 3' for Wii U introduces new weapons and Dark Horse interactive comic

Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U will have exclusive weapons and allow players to experience the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 through an interactive Dark Horse comic.

Speaking to Polygon, Mass Effect 3 Wii U's external producer, Melanie Faulknor, said that because the first two Mass Effect games are not available on Wii U, the developers at Bioware wanted to make sure that those who pick up Mass Effect 3 for Wii U have the option to experience the game's predecessors.

"One of the things we've got for Mass Effect on Wii U is a Dark horse interactive comic that allows players to play...

Treading different ground in 'Battlefield 3's' 'Armored Kill'

Battlefield 3 has always focused on vehicles. They've been a defining element of the series forever, they affect infantry in profound ways unrelated to high-speed projectiles, and they serve as a foil and a target for ordinance. But the upcoming "Armored Kill" DLC is more than focused — it's almost pornographically fixated on motorized death machines. It results in something that feels quite a bit different than previous Battlefield 3 DLC.

It might take a few minutes of careening over hills in tanks and armored vehicles to understand the basic strategic differences that "Armored Kill's" new...

'The Sims 3 Seasons' lets you control the weather in multiple ways

Following Electronic Arts' The Sims 3 Seasons announcement yesterday, developers from the company's Maxis label showed off the expansion at EA's Summer Showcase press event. Like most Sims expansions, it mixes straightforward mechanics with a fun concept.

As described in a press release, Seasons will allow players to swim, play soccer, go snowboarding, go diving, build igloos, go to a spring dance, bob for apples, throw snowballs, get a tan, etc. If you can think of something that seems seasonal, chances are it fits in with what the developers are making here.

Essentially, it follows the...

'FIFA 13' on the Wii U: soccer for the casual and hardcore player

A soccer match between Chelsea and Liverpool takes place on the screen. The animated players move quickly across the crisp field of grass, passing the ball, dodging one another, and making smooth transitions between kicking goals and head-butting the ball.

Off the screen, a real-world player holds the Wii U controller, analyzing their players from a top-down view. Making movements just as swift and smooth with their fingers, the player swipes through player stats, taps on team members to substitute them, and checks on the opponent's players, all while their game is still playing out on...

The mode, which we'll have hands on impressions over later today, will be part of the "Armored Kill" download pack for Battlefield 3 when the add-on hits in September. In the mode, two teams of 12 fight for control of a flag placed in a designated area on the map. The winning team must control the flag and rack up kills while bleeding the opposing force's tickets down to zero, according to an EA information sheet. The mode is...
