'NBA Live 13' first look comes in leaked gameplay footage

NBA Live 13, the upcoming resurrection of Electronic Arts' long-running basketball series, debuted in a gameplay video that leaked today amid continuing silence from EA on its progress.

The video was removed from YouTube shortly after Operation Sports spotted it, thanks to a copyright claim from EA, but it is available for viewing on Kotaku. It shows off about 10 minutes of gameplay from the first quarter of a Thunder-Heat match-up. Before that, the person playing the game scrolls through the main menu options, one of which is "exit game." That suggests NBA Live 13 may indeed be a downloadable title, which would confirm recent speculation.

We reached out to EA to confirm the video's authenticity, and a spokesperson replied, "The video appears to be captured from a pre-alpha build months ago and is not an official EA Sports release. It does not represent a final build or feature set for NBA Live."

Earlier this month, EA told Polygon that the publisher has "a very aggressive launch plan" for NBA Live 13. The spokesperson added, "The development team at our Tiburon studio is working hard to get the game to beta," and as of now it is still scheduled for release in October, before the 2012-13 NBA season begins on October 30th.
