This weekend PAX Prime takes over Seattle, delivering a massive three day event of video game booths, concerts and panels all packed into the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. The show officially runs from August 31st to September 2nd, but we arrived a bit early to make sure we didn't miss a thing. We'll be here the rest of the week and over the weekend making sure you don't miss anything either.
"Around Every Corner," the fourth episode of Telltale Games' acclaimed first season of The Walking Dead adventure games, is coming out in October, and the studio just put up the game's PAX Prime panel online.
A.J. LoCascio, voice actor for Marty McFly in Telltale's episodic Back to the Future games, hosted the over-capacity panel, "Playing Dead Live," on the evening of August 31st at the convention. He was joined by The Walking Dead project leads Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin, Telltale co-founder Kevin Bruner, and series story consultant and Episode 4 writer Gary Whitta. They discussed the...
Medal of Honor: Warfighter aims to prove that the first-person shooter genre has more to offer.
Based on a demo that we played during PAX Prime last month, Developer Danger Close is positioning Warfighter to riff on the genre's formula and distinguish itself from its competitors. Surface level mechanics aside, it's a unique experience. To begin with, there is no Rambo in Warfighter, no lone wolf against all odds. It's about teamwork, paired as deliberate twosomes both in the campaign and multiplayer modes.
There is no Rambo in 'Warfighter'
It's Danger Close's attempt to ground the...
Polygon visited Mobage's booth at PAX prime last week to check out three free-to-play games: Transformers: Legends, Marvel: War of Heroes, and Hellfire.
Transformers and Marvel are both card-based battle games, in which players collect, combine, and battle with in-game cards. Each card represents a character and includes skills and attributes that players can buff with other cards they collect while playing the game.
In Transformers: Legends, players will have choose between the Autobots, who want to protect Earth, and Decepticons, who'd rather strip-mine it for its energon. During the...
PAX's Indie Megabooth is the product of cooperation.
At PAX Prime last week, a group of independent developers pooled their resources to purchase acreage on the show's main floor and subdivided it into mini-booths, where the developers were on hand with over 30 games.
The Megabooth is the brainchild of Fire Hose Games' Eitan Glinert, who wanted a booth in the busier, more expensive main convention hall. After PAX Prime 2011, he contacted indie developers with the idea of splitting the cost and space of a booth there.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, so Glinert enlisted the help of...
Guacamelee, the luchador-inspired brawler heading to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita next year, was playable at PAX Prime's Indie Megabooth last week. Polygon spoke with the developers at DrinkBox Studios about the game and the cross-play features that offer an experience similar to the Wii U by allowing the game to be played simultaneously on both systems.
As the developers played through a level that takes place about an hour into the campaign, they highlighted the game's cross-control feature, a dual screen option like the Wii U's GamePad. While using the Vita as a controller, a...
The end of the world is just the beginning for Undead Labs, the creators of in-development zombie survival game State of Decay. The company's upcoming open-world survival adventure, coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PC, hopefully early next year, is the first step in what Undead Labs hopes to do with the zombie video game genre.
Undead Labs brought State of Decay to PAX Prime this past weekend, showcasing an early alpha build of the game that blends zombie slaying with base building, morale management, scavenging, and open-world action. In the brief playable demo, players must content with a...
It's an extended cut of the same demo we saw at E3, a sequence in Pittsburgh in which protagonists Joel and Ellie make their way through a dilapidated hotel. The demo shows off the banter between the two characters as they solve environmental puzzles and sneak around the vagrants who have set up shop in the building.
We've embedded the longer PAX Prime demo first, and the seven-and-a-half-minute E3 demo below it. Watch both...
Console gamers can be forgiven for furrowing their collective brows at the acronym MOBA, which stands for multiplayer online battle arena. Like the real-time strategy (RTS) genre, it exists almost solely within the domain of PC gaming.
Monolith Productions wants to change that, and their upcoming console-exclusive MOBA, The Lord of the Rings: Guardians of Middle-earth is their volley into the battlefield. The company's goal is to embrace the depth, strategy, and timing inherent in PC MOBAs, while making it accessible to console gamers.
Polygon visited Monolith's studios in Kirkland,...
At PAX Prime last week, Ubisoft's Steven Masters and Phillippe Bergeron appeared in a panel to discuss creating the impending Assassin's Creed 3 and answer fan questions.
Before the duo entered, the panel's moderator took to the stage and announced that they'd brought something for the fans: The world premier of a video to be released online next week.
Inspired by the Assassin's Creed franchise, the video is set to an original composition called "Assassin" by Stephen Anderson and follows parkour specialist Ronnie Shalvis as he catapults through a city dressed in Assassin garb.
You can watch...
A 13-minute Tomb Raider gameplay demo from PAX was released this week showing footage of a young Lara Croft trying to find other survivors on an island she is stranded on.
The video, filmed by GamesRadar, includes commentary from the senior product manager from Square Enix, Mark Turosz, and shows Lara Croft finding a bow and arrow and learning to hunt deer.
Turosz explains that players can approach hunting in different ways – they can take the stealth approach by sneaking up on the animals or they can run straight at them.
Tomb Raider will be out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on...
The developer of Aliens: Colonial Marines announced at PAX this weekend that, despite previous confirmation to the contrary, the sci-fi shooter will feature playable female space marines.
During an E3 livestream, when Gearbox producer Brian Burleson was asked whether Aliens: Colonial Marines would feature female colonial marines, he responded "No, sadly not." He added "There's lots of girls in the game, it's not just all guys." Given the Alien series' strong female protagonists, like Ellen Ripley and Private Vasquez, an all-male playable cast seemed like an unusual oversight by the...
PAX Prime's Indie Megabooth was stuffed with games for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, but we only saw on Wii U GamePad amongst the group of independent developers. It belonged to the creators of Chasing Aurora, an asymmetric multiplayer game coming to Nintendo's eShop.
The demo version of Chasing Aurora pits one Wii U GamePad player against four others armed with Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, with one player in pursuit of the other four.
With its sharply angular characters and 2D, pop-up book style, Chasing Aurora doesn't really look like anything else on the Wii U. The...
Even if you've never touched a deck of Magic: The Gathering cards, you may still grasp the collectible card game complexities of Card Hunter, one of the highlights of the Indie Megabooth at PAX Prime this weekend. Because if you've ever outfitted a paper doll avatar in a role-playing game like Diablo or Baldur's Gate, you already know how to build a deck in Card Hunter.
Card Hunter, its creators say, is a hybrid of collectible card game, role-playing game, and board game. There's deep reverence for Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering in this free-to-play Flash game from developer...
The video, posted below, shows uncut footage from The War Z's alpha version. Online co-op is all about communication, as the video demonstrates, with two players working together to safely navigate the area, collect supplies, and take out zombies.
NetherRealm Studios has been making Mortal Kombat games for over 20 years, but its next game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, leaves Earthrealm behind for the DC Comics universe.
Polygon caught up with Hector Sanchez, a producer at NetherRealm, at PAX Prime, and he told us that Injustice offered a chance to reassess how the studio makes fighting games. Players familiar with Mortal Kombat will feel the difference as soon as they pick up a controller. Injustice departs from the Mortal Kombat control scheme. Gone, for example, is the block button in favor of blocking by pressing back.
In Halo 4's newest video from the development process, "A Hero Awakens," the developers at 343 Industries discuss the ways in which they humanize faceless series protagonist Master Chief.
The video premiered during the Halo 4 panel at PAX Prime 2012.
343i used performance capture in Halo 4's cutscenes, although the voice actors for Master Chief and Cortana differ from the performance-capture actors. The video features plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the process. Of the story, narrative director Armando Troisi said, "Until it actually touches an actor, it lacks humanity."
What do you get when you cross a sentient motorcycle and a fighting game? Twisted Pixel’s LocoCycle, gameplay for which the developer recently revealed in a trailer and showed off at PAX Prime.
Though early in development, the game’s frenetic energy was on hand during the PAX demo. The action transitioned seamlessly between driving and shooting, and then leaping into the air to chain together melee-based multipliers just as you’d expect in a fighting game.
"It’s a melee-style brawler game at 190 miles per hour," Twisted Pixel’s studio director Michael Wilford told Polygon.
Calling Rise of the Triad fast is like calling the hinged iron webbing over a pit of spikes troublesome. It's true as far as it goes, but neither quite gets the point across.
There was a guy in a flannel shirt and backpack playing the reboot of the over-the-top 90s-era first-person shooter on the floor at PAX when I walked up to the RotT PC. As I watched over his shoulder, I assumed that there was a speed-based mod running that had been tuned to light speed.
I stand behind the guy with flannel shirt, watching him spar with weapons familiar to RotT fans and giggle-inducing new ones....
Free online and Facebook game developers are encountering more and more challenges when it comes to monetizing their games, according to a recent panel at PAX. Several PopCap team members spoke on the topic of bringing a game from concept to creation.
By Ed Allard of PopCap's account, the horizon is different than it looked a few years ago. Ever-growing teams continue to exhaust themselves until the date of release, but a game launch doesn't mean the same thing as it used to.
"All of those rules have changed now."
"You'd ship a game, and shipping the game was the finish line," said Allard,...
The time-traveling military organization known as Super Time Force has a new recruit, a totally rad dinosaur named Zackasaurus. The chill raptor dude, who rocks sunglasses, a Hawaiian shirt, and some tongue-in-cheek attitude — the Poochy of Super Time Force, perhaps — is the latest addition to indie developer Capy Games' side-scrolling shooter.
The Force will meet Zackasaurus when they travel far into the past to destroy a cybernetic T. Rex and an asteroid, the two big bosses of the new levels Capy brought to PAX Prime's Indie Megabooth.
Here's the mission: Col. Repeatski, the double...
Another Ratchet & Clank game is getting a high-definition upgrade this year, the tenth anniversary of the action platformer franchise. Insomniac Games announced at PAX today that the fourth game in the series, Ratchet: Deadlocked for the PlayStation 2, will come to PlayStation Network later this year.
Development on Ratchet: Deadlocked HD will be handled by Idol Minds, the studio responsible for the recently released Ratchet & Clank Collection. The high definition collection bundled the first three PS2 games — Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your...
The fifth character class for Borderlands 2, the Mechromancer, will be available for download "by October 16th," Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford announced at PAX today.
Pitchford says the date is all-but confirmed — "There may be a little fudge factor there," he warned — as the downloadable content is still being developed by the Borderlands 2 team. The Mechromancer, a pet-style class who can summon the robot weapon known as Deathtrap, will cost $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points when she's released in October. Players who pre-order Borderlands 2 will get the Mechromancer for free,...
Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford offered an update on the status of Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 at PAX today, revealing that the game announced in 2011 will no longer be a Brothers In Arms game.
"The game that was announced as Brothers In Arms: Furious 4 has evolved," Pitchford said during the "Inside Gearbox Software" panel at PAX Prime today.
Ptichford said that as the game's developers "pushed the gameplay loop, they got into a place that got away from the core" of the Brothers In Arms franchise. Since then, Pitchford said, "it's evolved even farther, and it needed to be...
Halo 4 will include Grifball, a frantic multiplayer sport that Texas studio Rooster Teeth created for Halo 3, as one of its main multiplayer modes, 343 Industries confirmed at PAX Prime yesterday.
The Grifball multiplayer mod was created in late 2007 for Halo 3 and was inspired by a joke from the webseries Red vs. Blue. It involves opposing teams trying to get the grifball into the opponent's goal – using a hammer will send the grifball flying, using the sword will kill the grifball carrier and transfer it to another player. Scoring a goal detonates the grifball and kills the player who was...
On Saturday afternoon at the Paramount Theater, a few blocks away from the Washington State Convention Center where PAX Prime 2012 was taking place, Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear series, walked onstage in a sparkling Fox Hound shirt to a standing ovation.
"Hello, PAX," he said through a translator, and the ovation grew taller and louder.
This was Kojima's first PAX, and he used to occasion to talk about the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise and, he promised, to bring something new for the fans.
In an hourlong discussion hosted by Geoff Keighley, explained that the...
When writing video games, there's a challenge in keeping the narrative in line with the gameplay. Writers have to guess what players will—or in many cases, won't—do. Games are by design full of boundaries, but if your write your story well enough, no one will ever know.
At a PAX panel, Portal writer Erik Wolpaw and Double Fine president Tim Schafer discussed the idea of "plot vs. play." It gets tricky. You could go the Metal Gear Solid route, à la film-worthy cutscenes, or use a tongue-in-cheek interactive method, like Portal. Wolpaw called it an uneasy balance, joking that sometimes adding...
Nintendo's famous pink blob celebrated his 20th anniversary this year, and in honor of Kirby, 536 PAX attendees gathered to do one thing: blow gum bubbles. Together, the group set the Guiness World Record for the most people blowing a chewing gum bubble simultaneously.
"Kirby is no ordinary character, so it's not a surprise that his fans would go to extraordinary lengths to mark his 20th anniversary," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Nintendo is proud to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic following."
The old record of 304 people...
Insomniac Games is a studio known for console games. Since it was founded in 1994, the studio has made a name for itself with console mainstays Spyro the Dragon, Resistance, and Ratchet & Clank franchises. But about two and a half years ago, Brian Hastings, Insomniac's chief creative officer, who had, among other things, dreamed up the Ratchet & Clank games, realized that there was opportunity to bring a "real game" to Facebook.
At PAX Prime 2012, Insomniac held a panel to tell attendees how they came from idea to concept, what they learned, and what the future holds.
He was enticed by...
Agent 47's going to be a busy man when Hitman: Absolution is released later this year. Because with "Contracts" mode, the hits just keep on coming, as players have been given the power to design the assassinations that keep Mr. 47 in business.
At PAX Prime, we got the chance to sample the type of jobs we can expect in "Contracts," returning to a familiar level, Chinatown, in a contract designed by developer IO Interactive. We chose the harder of the two available options, which involved taking out two police officers and a seedy mobster. To collect a bonus, Agent 47 had to take them all...
An anthropomorphized cave welcomes me as soon as I press the Start button. He senses my incredulity, and lightens the mood with a joke about how being a cave makes it hard to get ladies.
Within those first few seconds, The Cave greets me with precisely the kind of humor found in earlier collaborations between the game's creator, Ron Gilbert, and Tim Schafer, the head of Double Fine Productions, where Gilbert is developing the game. Decades ago, the duo worked together at LucasArts to create Maniac Mansion and the first Monkey Island games. To fans of those classic adventure games, The...
Four team members from Gearbox Software went up against Borderlands 2's toughest boss monster in a demo at PAX today. With four max level characters and an armory of high-level guns — and after cashing in a few "Bad-Ass Rank" tokens to further boost their skills — the players sounded the horn that summoned Terramorphous the Invincible.
Working in tandem, they spent a good five minutes firing bullets, launching rockets, and firing sentry guns at Terramorphous. The developers did about 5% damage to him before dying a variety of gruesome deaths. It wasn't even close.
As he demoed the first-person shooter Rekoil, Jason Brice, developer Plastic Piranha's president and CEO, revealed its inspiration: The studio wants to return to the roots of what makes an FPS good, namely the shooting.
"One of my favorite games was Call of Duty 2, when there was the ability to go in and change from the very beginning — no ranking, no bullshit," he said. "You know, you don't run around the map and get shot — right as you're about to shoot someone else — by a helicopter. You don't get bit by a dog. It's you, and your weapon, against everybody else."
As such, Rekoil has a...
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima brought new gameplay footage of his next game, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, to PAX, giving attendees their first look at Snake's next stealth action adventure. If you weren't sitting in the Paramount Theater in Seattle today, now you can watch it too.
Kojima says the gameplay demo was recorded in real-time, running on a PC with specs that were comparable to a PlayStation 3. Given the graphical fidelity of Ground Zeroes' first footage, you may find that a little hard to believe. Enjoy more than 10 minutes of the next Metal Gear Solid, direct from Konami....
Game designer Hideo Kojima attended his first PAX ever today to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series with fans. In addition to touching on the history of Solid Snake's stealth adventures Kojima debuted footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, the next entry in the franchise.
Kojima first talked about the engine that powers Ground Zeroes, the Fox Engine.
"There are a lot of amazing game engines out there — CryEngine, Unreal — but we wanted to get in there and tweak things ourselves," Kojima said through a translator. Kojima Productions wanted to make their game...
At PAX Prime 2012, an Assassin's Creed 3 panel included two members of the development team, who were there for the fans, many of whom were dressed like Assassins.
Ubisoft's Steven Masters and Phillippe Bergeron gave attendees an inside look at the creation of the game, including the challenges and motivations that the team faced when designing Assassin's Creed 3.
For Bergeron, this the the Assassin's Creed game that he always wanted to make. But as much excitement as there was to make the game, it posed tons of new challenges. For example, the Anvil engine that powers the Assassin's Creed...
In honor of their 25th anniversary, Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, as well as screenshots and artwork.
The "Limit Break" trailer shows off several gameplay elements, including magicks and melee attacks. A Realm Reborn is the relaunch of the original massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIV, which suffered from severe gameplay issues. The game will feature updated graphics, user interface, and classes and jobs. It takes place in Eorzea, a land recovering from a natural catastrophe and brutal, empire-driven attacks.
Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) began in 2004 as "big ass, two day party for gamers." The show is the brainchild Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the team behind Penny Arcade, which is most famous for the duo's long running webcomic starring their alter egos, Tycho and Gabe.
Its focus has always been gaming, and PAX remains fundamentally a celebration of games and the culture that surrounds them. PAX features hundreds of current and classic gaming consoles, and provides entertainment from geek-certified artists like Jonathan Coulton and nerdcore pioneer MC Frontalot.
As PAX has grown since its...

At a 25th anniversary celebration of the Final Fantasy franchise, Square Enix revealed the latest development in the ongoing saga of Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lighting, unveiling first details on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

"The game system is much more active, and the world features much more interactive environments as before,"...

The prequel to the God of War trilogy, Ascension, will have you facing a different sort of enemy: the Furies. The PAX God of War: Ascension panel took a little time to introduce the latest less than lovely ladies of the series.
After selling his soul to Ares, Kratos must break free of their deal. However, it's a task easier said than done. Kratos invokes the wrath of the Furies, three nightmarish creatures whose sole purpose is to ensure the people who sell their souls pay up. Those who don't are hunted down and driven mad.
The trio is lead by Megara, who panel members referred to as the...
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two includes a level built to resemble a decayed version of Frontierland, a Disneyland Theme Park attraction from the 1950s, developer Disney Interactive announced today.
Fort Wasteland resembles the Wild West of classic films past, and includes thematic attractions like the Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland and Tom Sawyer Island's now-decrepit Fort Wilderness.
Attendees of PAX Prime this weekend will get the first hands-on opportunity with Fort Wasteland. The expo runs today through Sunday in Seatlle, Washington, and Polygon is out on the show floor...
A new multiplayer map for Halo 4 called "Exile" was unveiled today at PAX Prime. The "War Games Gameplay" trailer features 36 seconds of shooting, brutal flag capturing, and big booms.
Halo 4 is the first entry in a new trilogy; original protagonist Master Chief will return. The game is set four years after the end of Halo 3 on the planet of Requiem. Halo 4's multiplayer will feature a new "Specialization" feature, which allows for multiplayer customization. Players can unlock 10 more levels of armor, each of which grants a different perk.
Halo 4 launches for the Xbox 360 on November 6th,...
Colour Bind, the latest puzzle-platformer from Australian developer Finn Morgan and Puppy Punch Productions, will come to Steam on September 24th. It will be available on both PC and Mac.
Colour Bind is a puzzle-platformer game where gravity is determined by color, not mass; puzzles are completed by tweaking colors and gravity levels. The game features over 50 different puzzles, as well as 20 local co-op and level creation. Players will also be able to compete with one another via leaderboards and gain achievements.
PAX attendees can demo the game or grab early beta codes from the Colour...
We get a closer look at the varied settings of Warface, the upcoming free-to-play shooter from Crytek Kiev, in this new PAX Prime trailer.
I had a chance to play a few rounds of the game at Gamescom earlier this month and found the game, while a bit light, still a very engaging experience. The game's on-the-fly weapons customization, though, is nothing short of stunning.
The next Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX) will take place from July 5th to 7th, 2013, at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX.
Rooster Teeth announced the date during its PAX Prime 2012 panel this afternoon. RTX 2012 included the first public hands-on gameplay with Halo 4. Rooster Teeth is a production company known for its live-action and machinima web videos, including the Red vs. Blue series based on Bungie and 343 Industries' Halo franchise.
For more details, check out the RTX website.
Monolith has already revealed several playable characters in their upcoming Lord of the Rings multiplayer online battle arena, and today they released two more demos. The latest "Battle Profiles" feature Hildifons, Sauron, Arathorn, and Runsig.
Both demos show off two players each and their tactical uses. Hildifons, a hobbit with a penchant for pyro techniques, specializes in lane control. The ultimate Lord of the Rings villain, Sauron, is a master of melee and giant maces. Arathorn, Aragorn's father, and Runsig were previously unveiled at Gamescom; Arathorn is better suited for long-range...
Marvel released a new teaser for its currently-unnamed mobile game, this time focusing on everyone's favorite anger management trainee, The Hulk.
The teaser, which premiered on Marvel XP, sees S.H.E.I.L.D. commander, Nick Fury, making the argument to the World Security Council that The Hulk should be sent in to battle an enemy force that has been unleashed on Earth. Towards the end of the teaser, Fury explains that there's a contingency plan in case things go south: The infamous Hulkbuster suit made by Stark Industries.
This is the fourth such teaser for this mysterious mobile game. The...

Furthermore, PAX Prime will take place over four days next year, covering Friday through Monday.

"We will," Krahulik answered when asked about bringing Penny Arcade Expo to England. "I can't say when."
Penny Arcade has not yet announced an official date or city for PAX...
Sony is taking the opportunity at PAX to continue the slow and steady drip feed of character reveals for its upcoming Cross Buy-enabled PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita Brawl-er, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Today we've got Nariko from PS3 launch title Heavenly Sword and the undead Sir Daniel Fortesque rising from the graveyard of early PlayStation title MediEvil. They join Evil Cole and Raiden from earlier this week.
Despite not being a household name, and having only appeared in a single PlayStation game, Daniel Maniago from developer SuperBot Entertainment says, "Nariko has...
Batman shooter Gotham City Impostors' move to Steam and free-to-play today wasn't without its casualties: Effective immediately the Games for Windows Live version of the game is no longer officially supported.
That includes the PC version purchased on EA Origin, GameStop Impulse and of course through Games for Windows Live's own storefront.
Those forced to shift to Steam will be rewarded with special content that only they will ever have access to, Nate Edson, senior producer on Gotham City Impostors, tells Polygon.
The shift is in part spurred by the fact that the game is a rework of the...
Insomniac Games founder Ted Price announced at his PAX Prime keynote today that his company was working on an "all-new intellectual property" named Fuse.
Price showed a screenshot from the game — which looked similar to Insomniac's already announced shooter Overstrike, which may explain the fate of that game — and a link to Fusegame.com. The site currently features a countdown clock that expires sometime in September.
Insomniac Games first revealed Overstrike in 2011 with a pre-rendered trailer at an Electronic Arts press conference. The game hasn't been shown publicly since.
Lovers of Adventure Time, Ren & Stimpy, the Adult Swim oeuvre, indie games, dubstep, skateboarding dinosaurs, and children jumping into piles of burning tires will have plenty to like in the new Super Time Force trailer.
The series of cartoon shorts, which writer Chris Plante is calling "The Best Trailer Ever... This Week," is the latest promotion for the time-bending, death-multiplying shooter from developer Capybara Games. We loved what we saw of it at PAX East, and look forward to checking it out with the public at PAX Prime this weekend.
Super Time Force will hit Xbox LIVE Arcade in...
PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies franchise is loaning its shambling cartoon corpses and weaponized flora to Zen Studios' pinball games next month. Both Zen Pinball 2 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and Pinball FX2 for Xbox 360 will receive a Plants vs. Zombies-themed table starting September 4th.
Plants vs. Zombies pinball will release alongside Zen Pinball 2 for PS3 and Vita — which just happens to be a Cross Buy-compatible title — on September 4th in North America, one day later in Europe. The Xbox 360 version will be sold as downloadable content for Pinball FX2 on September 5th...
It's been a long and winding road, but Torchlight 2 is finally on the horizon. Following news of its September 20th release date, developer Runic Games has posted a beautiful launch trailer cut to some incredibly familiar rock music. Where do we know this from? I want to say Requiem for a Dream.
Any who, with the game mere weeks away, don't be surprised if we see a heavy push of screens, videos, and special reveals soon. Those attending PAX this weekend will have a chance to check out Torchlight 2 in person, while the rest of us wait, refreshing the trailer again and again.
Testers for massively multiplayer online first-person shooter Planetside 2's closed beta clocked over 535 million shots fired and averaged two hours a day in-game, Sony Online Entertainment announced today.
Since its start on August 3rd, beta testers have done 8.5 billion damage points to other players and 5.8 billion to vehicles, Sony reported. Successful hits totaled 194.6 million, along with the launching of 2.3 million rockets and 571,000 grenades, resulting in 6.3 million player deaths.
Sony also broke down players' Empire allegiance. While the majority, 34.67 percent of players, went...
Before talking about the shifting play styles of The Unfinished Swan at Gamescom, developer Giant Sparrow showed us this poignant little video.
While the point is to highlight some of those new ways of playing, like by watering a vine to use it as a organic ladder throughout one level, the look of these new levels and the sad little backstory take a front seat in the trailer released today.
No date has been set for The Unfinished Swan which is coming to the PS3's Playstation Network exclusively.

5th Cell announced Steam Workshop support for the Windows PC version of Scribblenauts Unlimited, showing off keyboard and mouse controls as well, at a pre-PAX demo.
Scribblenauts creator Jeremiah Slaczka and Unlimited producer Brittany Aubert showed the creation of player-made objects — S...
