Noir game ‘Cypher’ brings back text adventure
In honor of text adventure games, indie developers the Cabrera Brothers have brought a new text adventure game to life with Cypher.
Text adventure games have been around since the early days of gaming. They might not have been fancy like their animated counterparts, but they required a special kind of puzzle solving and a healthy dose of imagination.
In honor of the genre, indie developers the Cabrera Brothers have brought a new text adventure game to life with Cypher. Players explore the world of NeoSushi City as a wannabe smuggler recently returned from the Moon colonies. After a deal goes sour, the smuggler is on the run from would-be hitmen after the passcode stored in his Synapse. Gameplay is text-based, with players inputting commands through simple sentences.
Cypher's DRM-free digital download is available for PC and Mac in three different editions: standard, collectors, and deluxe. All three come with a free copy of the game's soundtrack, as well as a number of edition-specific extras.
