GameStop opens pre-orders for Wii U, launching November 18th in North America.

GameStop has announced it is now taking pre-orders for the Wii U, which is now scheduled to launch in North America on November 18th.

The game retailer is also offering a handful of Wii U trade-in bonuses, offering $50 in credit toward a Wii U pre-order to those who trade in a current generation Wii. GameStop is offering a similar deal to those who trade in an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, or Nintendo 3DS. Here's the full list.

  • $50 trade credit for a Wii
  • $90 trade credit for an Xbox 360 (original), PS Vita or 3DS
  • $115 trade credit for a PS3 (original) or Xbox 360 (slim)
  • $140 trade credit for a PS3 (slim)

GameStop is also taking pre-orders for Wii U game software, though pricing is not confirmed for all titles at its online store.

Nintendo announced earlier today that the Wii U will be released in North America on November 18th, 2012 in two configurations: a basic set for $299.99 and a deluxe set for $349.99. GameStop warns that "quantities are limited" on Wii U pre-orders.
