Earth Defense Force 4, the latest installment in publisher D3's alien-shooter, pits players against the Ravagers in another war to save humanity, as shown in a trailer released today.

The first in-game footage, posted below, introduces the title's central conflict. Set in 2025, Earth Defense Force 4 is a direct sequel to Earth Defense Force 2017 and brings the Ravagers back to the battlefield. Since the last game, humanity has been rebuilding what is left of Earth, unaware that its mortal enemy was breeding and planning below the world's surface. Players must harness the power of their enemies – old technology the species has left behind – to bring them down once again.

Earth Defense Force 4 was announced in Famitsu last week for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
