Halo 4 will include Grifball, a frantic multiplayer sport that Texas studio Rooster Teeth created for Halo 3, as one of its main multiplayer modes, 343 Industries confirmed at PAX Prime yesterday.

The Grifball multiplayer mod was created in late 2007 for Halo 3 and was inspired by a joke from the webseries Red vs. Blue. It involves opposing teams trying to get the grifball into the opponent's goal – using a hammer will send the grifball flying, using the sword will kill the grifball carrier and transfer it to another player. Scoring a goal detonates the grifball and kills the player who was carrying the ball. The first team to score the best of nine goals wins.

The demo of Grifball from PAX can be viewed below.

Halo 4 will release on November 6th on Xbox 360.
