Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse reaches Kickstarter funding target with $711,561 raised

Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse exceeded its original funding goal of $400,000 by raising $771,561 on Kickstarter from 14,032 backers this weekend.

The extra money helped the developers reach three stretch goals, including the addition of exotic locations in North Africa and the Middle East in the point-and-click adventure, restoring the director's cuttings, and inserting a backer's name and likeness into the game.

The game is the fifth entry in Revolution Software's long-running Broken Sword series made by the original members of the Broken Sword team. It's described as an "unashamedly 2D" point-and-click adventure game featuring series protagonists George Stobbart and Nicole "Nico" Collard as they run around Paris busting Templar conspiracies.

The Broken Sword Kickstarter launched on August 23rd and closed this weekend.
