Developer Sandlot's third-person shooter Earth Defense Force 2017 is coming to North America for PlayStation Vita, the Earth Defense Force Facebook page announced today.

The game released for Xbox 360 in North America in 2007, and as Earth Defense Force 3 Portable in Japan today on Vita. There is no further information on a release date or whether the game will be released through the PlayStation Network or at retail.

Earth Defense Force 4 was recently announced for release next year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, with no word yet on international publication.
