Lookin forward to it, love me some street fighter!
I don’t like being reminded that this game exists…because it reminds me how long a wait it still is.
Related note: REALLY hope they decide to do a simple PC port to PS4/X1, I kinda don’t want to play it on 360.
And this my dear friends is more of the cause for buggy games than anything else! The ones making the games care, have passion about what they are doing, but the ones who own and invest in the companies are greedy little cockroaches :)
But, this example assumes that this self funded dev had the time and resources (i.e. funding) to develop and test it for both platforms at the same time…. not to mention it quotes two certification process time estimates that are not valid… It’s not a sound example for me to relate to.
Nor does it seem to harm the developer or the gamer. I still don’t understand the ‘point’, but I don’t create games for either platform so really I think I’m too far removed to have an opinion :)
You believe that don’t you? So you did cut off your nose to spite your face, this… this is weird man! Ah well, to each their own, all the best.
So I’m slightly confused; You didn’t like that the Xbox version had to be ready first (due to this clause), so you went to Sony so that the Playstation version had to be ready first?!?! So you gave Sony what Microsoft wanted?
Makes sense :)
That’s about it then, until you can say “Used”, I don’t understand how you even feel like you can butt into our conversation like that as if you had value to share. Talk about judging a book by it’s cover!
Glad you asked, I read “renowned” and felt wonder and embarrassment that I’ve never heard of her either! But a quick Google search later, as Meier mentions, she was heavily involved in Wizardry and Jagged Alliance, games I didn’t really follow or know who was involved in them.
Yep, I’m loving the system too; the new UI, the controller, the games I’ve played thus far, etc.. But as you say, there are a couple of things that need some fine tuning.
Hope they ‘fix’ the achievement system, it feels more like PS3 trophies now :( It’s slow, pulls you out of the game and is arranged a way that it’s actually bothersome to see what achievements you have outstanding for the game you are playing. 360 had a super speedy way of viewing and reviewing achievements, so while the X1 system is flashier/prettier it’s utility has suffered.
Am I alone on this?!
It’s such a huge mess you put in 60 hours?! Listen to what you just said, if it was that broken you would be unable to put in that many hours. I’m not saying there are no issues, I’m saying that the game is playable and yes sometimes it glitches/drops connection but I’m certain they’ll sort it out. But, based on your response (‘yelling, foul language’, clearly not open to any type of conversation/discussion) I have no idea why I even responded :(
I’m in the same boat; Poly has done this type of stamp feet and scream like a child, in hopes it’ll prove something, “type” of article before. It’s weird to see on a site that is normally refined and professional in it’s presentation, I mean to plummet the score to 4?!
Anywho again, I’m in the same boat, lost the server/crash maybe a couple of times. The multiplayer is so awesome, I really wouldn’t berate the game because of it. Software and networking is hard, they’ll nail it soon enough.
I’ve since found a post by them saying it’s not in the queue. I think something about size limitations being part of the reason came up, I didn’t even know Apple had such restrictions.
Any news if Enemy Within is coming to iOS? Thinking about picking it up on PC during the holidays if I have a small lull in gaming, but if it were coming to iOS I’d gladly wait as that would be an ideal platform for moi.
I’ve just had two of the best weeks of my life in regards to gaming, to anyone with the money and lust for gaming that many of us seem to have, I’d say don’t wait. The Wii U is thankfully getting more games, and exceptional ones to boot (I played Mario for about 2 hours last night, can tell I’m going to love my time with it), but out of the gate it was clear that nothing was coming for that system for the foreseeable future. With PS4 and X1, we already know of a dozen killer games coming in 2014 with a handful of those being in the first few months… not to mention the handful of amazing games available at launch. The cynicism around these console launches makes me a little sad inside, they are both amazing systems and I’m already delighted to own them even if nothing was on the horizon:
Assassins Creed 4 – I’ve only put in 2-3 hours, seems to be a great game. Yep not fully next gen in visuals, but upgraded enough and probably a good enough game that I’ll suck a good 30-40 hours out of it using a controller that is worth the next gen system alone ;)
Need for Speed Rivals – Can’t say how surprised I am how much I’m enjoying this game. With about 12 hours committed thus far, I feel that this game feels next gen enough and is certainly fun enough to warrant it’s purchase.
Killzone – What can I say, I’m a Killzone junkie and Shadowfall was no different for me. Once I got into the flow, I finished this sucker twice back to back during launch week. Loved it.
Dead Rising – My favorite next gen experience thus far, I can’t stop playing it! The visuals are damn impressive IMO for a gen 1 next gen launch title, and while not on par with say Killzone, blasting through hundreds of zombie on a rollerhawg while catching them on fire is not only impressive, it just never gets boring. About 30 or so hours in, I’m already planning the Overtime playthrough and I’m going back for a Nightmare run for SURE.
Battlefield 4 – Network issues aside, it’s beautiful beyond words and the multiplayer is amazing. As a launch title, how can we possibly complain! You could sink a hundred hours into multiplayer, you could get this game alone and it would carry you to the next big thing.
Resogun – Mindless and addictive entertainment, great launch title and you get it for FREE!
I could go on, but my point is the systems are fantastic. From the snappy new UI’s, to the wonderfully designed controllers you can’t go wrong getting either or both. The games are some of the best launch titles I can remember, and we know some killer titles are incoming (InFamous, Titanfall, Quantum Break, The Order, Destiny, Halo, The Division, Watchdogs, etc etc etc) so why would you wait, jump in and savor next gen.. It’s amazing!
Having been playing this game nonstop for 4 days now (it’s fun… really fun.. and addictive!) I’m starting to contemplate if Polygon employees like to have fun or feel joy?! I mean the site is awesome, community stellar, videos and articles well written and entertaining but sometimes (a lot actually) some of the best games are getting poor reviews. This game is bloody brilliant, I’m stumped by the average reviews across the board actually. I’m finding myself aligning with Destructoid (didn’t think I’d ever say those words) and GameInformer on this one, if you have an Xbox One and find any enjoyment in open world games, this is a must buy. You simply never tire hopping on a motorcycle/steamroller combo to plow through a horde of zombie, I mean never, it’s endlessly entertaining lol.
Yes he was unbanned when Microsoft realized that he was ‘legit’, but the machine that banned him probably has a date/time that it will allow people to connect legitimately. I’m guessing it may have been the same time media outlets got their consoles for review n such, at least I hope.. cuz I’m trying it, want to avoid the rush tomorrow.
Me toooooo, but I’m actually nervous because of that early shipment last week resulting in consoles being banned. For certain Microsoft won’t care if we are less than 24hrs before the release date? Heck less than 12hrs by the time I plug it in.
Because Amazon is pushing their ‘pay us more money for good service again’ card, I don’t have this or Assassin’s creed yet. I mean seriously :( Thankfully FutureShop gets their movies/games to you day before/of so my PS4 isn’t lonely.
Anywho, seems not having BF4 yet is maybe an OK thing, needs a couple of patches/updates :)
I hear you, shared evidence and tangible information that can be discussed mutually is significantly better than anecdotes and personal perceptions of an event (or even data, it’s amazing how our brains can play tricks on us).
I played it on PC, outside of being beautiful (I mean wow this game is sexy) I found it incredibly fun to play and well put together. Once you get past the first hour, it does start a little differently (corridor/linear, overuse of quicktimes) than what the end game ends up being (more open, exploratory, awesome combat, awesome environmental traversal skills, tomb puzzles, fun fun fun).
Noooooo, just as I moved on, just as I managed to break my Spelunky addiction (I played it every single day since launch on Vita)…. I now have no other choice but to start playing it again. Well, guess all other Vita games are on pause again for a while. Spelunky I’m coming home!
OK seriously, this game is amazing. When I got to the point where I could consistently beat hell, I felt it best to lay it down for a while so that my stockpile of Vita games could get some play time. Anyone who like a skill based challenge, I highly recommend this game.
One of my top games in 2013, in my top 10 for the last 5 years. Totally caught me off guard how much I enjoyed this game, fingers crossed for sequel(s).
Now with both, only having played extensively with the PS4 controller… I still prefer the Xbox controller. The PS4 controller is fantastic and I LOVE it, but there is just something extra special about the X1 controller.
