The early reviews (and even the beta) of SimCity were fantastic.
But I agree, if you want to support the developer, go ahead. That’s a perfectly legitimate reason. But for me, I resist doing so because of the anti-consumer behavior that publishers use to get you to do it. Because you are supporting that as much as you’re supporting the developer.
I don’t think I am going to preorder The Witcher 3 because I’m waiting til I have a better graphics card, but CDProjekt is pretty much the only AAA publisher I would consider preordering. They do so many things right.
There’s nothing wrong with pre-ordering if you want to support companies. But you’re missing the point if you think it’s about getting extra content. Extra content is the carrot that makes you accept an anti-consumer practice.
