I fully agree. Part of the reason I love gaming and feel in love was a different medium to tell stories. It’s a new venture and most games have only scratched the surface. It’s why I love Mass Effect and Bioshock so much. While not perfect one was good at character relationships. The other never took a break from gameplay to tell its story. Telltale does a good job player choice and how it affects story.

I actually want to make games. Well the company I’m trying to get started. It’s more a place to tell stories and find the best avenue for that story. A lot of artist like to stick to a medium for various reasons. I want to tap into them all. As each medium is different and can be experience different. I feel more and more people feel game play should come first but I think that’s half truth. Story should come first, with game play enhancing that. Gameplay is another tool to me. A way to tell your story. But that’s just me.

It’s going to happen soon. I’m approaching that point. And when I do???? I’m gonna blow minds.

I think I’ve reached a point in mylife where I’m just about done. It’s less about gaming as its more about interesting and exciting ways to experience a story.

I know that I’ve tossed the notion around before but I think I’ve finally grew up and away from gaming. What uses to be my form of escapism has been replaced by other things in my life. Most of which include putting all my eggs into one basket. Becoming a more serious and dedicated story teller.

I plan on getting the X1, and a Wuu, but that’s it. My PC is a dual work maching that will play games as the X1 is my entertainment center. The Wuu will service as the only dedicated gaming machine because Zelda.

I did grow up there as well. Good times good times.

I don’t praise it. I just find allll the cheesyness from the 90’s to be so bad it’s awesome.

I didn’t say the entire camera division, but parts of it. Kill the high end portion. Not many films are using the high end Sony cameras to make films.

While it’s getting better the R&D that is going into it is not worth it in my eyes. Outside of Asia they aren’t even making a dent in most markets.

All I’m saying is there are many divisions Sony could cut off and be ok.

The problem with your statement is that the “Core” gamer is a very very small community. The Wii proved that this gen. There is so much more market share out there that can be tapped into. THAT is Sony’s downfall, and has been part of Nintendo’s road blocks in some areas. Relying on the “Core” gamer will get you only so far.

The PS2 exploded because of DVD compatibility. I’ve personally told random folks about the X1 and the things it could do, most of which are casual or none gamers and you know what? They are all interested in this over a gaming console.

The thing MS has going for it that many “gamers” are neglecting is that this is a machine that plays games. Just like a computer, or tablet, or mobile phone does. It has many other functions that normal people use on a daily basis as well as play games.

Smartglass works with any screen (iOS, Android or Win8 mobile.) You don’t need a iPad, just a device that has the Xbox app.

They would be better off selling most of its electronics division. No not the Playstation Divison(even though some assets can go) but the TV, Blu-Ray, Computers, Home theaters, and even parts of its camera department.

But you gotta wonder who’s got the cash to buy Sony Pictures? Or Sony Music? Only 3 companies come to mind.

There is always a chance. Budget’s don’t make movies. Passion and drive and a willingness to believe in a project is what will make a good film.

Also creative differences is what the real issue was. Hopefully MS was right to pull the plug on it.

Cartoons don’t count for me. I’m talking live action dramatic television not aimed or geared toward children. As painful as that may sound that’s what Pokemon was a kids TV show, to help sell more games to kids. That was the market. While it had something an adult to relate to or understand, if they watched, it was still a cartoon at it’s core. But this show is not something that is geared towards kids.

Also I didn’t forget about it. I just didn’t care because it wasn’t big enough to make a dent.

I’m sooooo hype for this, but not for the reason most of you think.

I’m only 10% happy for a Halo TV show and 90% happy for a TV show based in a video game world.

I hope they don’t mess this up.
