There is a battery pack in the controller, so you can use it to charge your phone in a pinch, but it’s far from ideal for anything beyond that.
1800 mAh is nothing to sniff at – that’s going to more than double your battery life, given that the iPhone 5S has only 1560 mAh onboard. I feel the inclusion of the battery contributes significantly to the high cost of the Ace Power compared to their past controllers.
Surprisingly, it works out really nicely. These controllers have a bit of heft to them, so it’s not too imbalanced (even with a Galaxy S4, as shown above). The arrangement is similar to a 3DS or Nvidia Shield, and it seems to be the best yet devised for mobile devices.
