I own a DVD of Toy Story that doesn't work and VHS copies of that and its sequel.
I finally finished Bakuman the other day and it hit me hard. It’s definitely the most personally relatable comic I’ve ever read.
Other things I’ve been reading: not much. I’ve been keeping up with current Marvel stuff, but nothing screams “I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS” barring Ms. Marvel (Most Marvel book in years) and Black Widow (Gorgeous) which I mentioned other. I also caught up with some of my DC stuff (Batman/Superman, Action, Batman, and Superman: Unchained are the ones I’m caught up on). I loved Pak’s earlier Bats/Supes stuff with Jae Lee, but it went downhill when another artist filled in. His Action run has just been okay. Batman continues to be terrific, the last issue sold me on that damn weekly book.
Things I’ve been watching: Space Dandy (But I’m three episodes behind), Star Wars: The Clone Wars S6 (Six episodes left), re-watching Avatar with Fox (The DVD’s look horrible and Season 1 doesn’t hold up super well), that JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time DTV (Boy was that terrible and not worth the expense, cost me more than War which was far better), and I watched the last two Beware the Batman episodes from the new Blu-Ray. I’ll be supporting any of these WB puts out because I really want to see as much of their DC library on Blu as possible. Green Lantern is out next week and I’ve already got it pre-ordered. Hopefully more are on the way. Sony is finally giving us Spectacular Spider-Man on BR as well next month.
They don’t come until June or July so you’ll be over right after or when I get them.
It’s my favorite of the All-New Marvel NOW! books (With Black Widow being a close second). It’s easily the most “Marvel” book they’ve launched since the last Young Avengers series IMO.
Okay so I thought Marvel was doing the same thing they did with Miles Morales where they would reveal a character taking and emphises their skin color or religon but in the actual comic not pay too much atention to it and instead just focus on the character.
Boy was I way off.
This implies what “they” did was “pay too much attention” to the religious aspects. Seems like a pretty negative look at it to me. It doesn’t help that I recall during the buildup to the series, Zombie was dismissing it as a “gimmick” to feature a Muslim character.
Also, fun fact, this is the only way to get episodes 35-39 in HD in their original aspect ratio. The new Season Set Blu-Rays are cropped (And have a really odd remaster), while the older Level Set Blu-Rays only covered the first 34 episodes. This was a very fun fact.
I have this pre-ordered as well as Android 18, Goku, and SS Goku (THIS ONE’S FOR FOX I SWEAR). I already have Vegeta and all of the SH Figuarts Sailor Moon figures. They’re terrific.
So Miles was okay because he wasn’t TOO black, but Ms Marvel is an issue because she’s TOO Muslim? Okay, apply this thought process to real people and maybe you’ll see how utterly appalling it is.
