Sounds like a great reason to dive back in! Picked it up on steam a while back and the breakdown DLC didn’t seem too appealing to me but I like the sound of this.

Nailed it. It was not surprising to see the internet do it’s normal dance of joining hands to cry out in unison their song of hate and negativity so I’m glad to see some thoughtful commentary on the issue. No one wants to walk around all day with blinders on but to outright dismiss the possibility that in 20 years it will be absolutely plausible to shrink this tech into a nearly imperceivable, pervasive piece of technology is just short sited.

I find the lack of foresight up in here to be the real hilarity. Everyone comparing a Dev kit from today to what the landscape will be like in ‘a couple of decades’ is showing a tremendous amount of ignorance.
This was our idea of an HDTV ten years ago.

Google is patenting contact lense technology with cameras in them. If I am staring at a 90" panel made of glass and such in 20 years I will be massively disappointed in our ability to innovate.

I do not think I will every be able to bring myself to pay for a consumable, in-game item. If I am paying for something that will not forever be a part of my game experience, it tells me the game is not balanced to accommodate said item and is in turn a cash grab. If a developer cannot present a cohesive vision of what they believe represents the way a game is meant to be played then I cannot in good conscience contribute to that product.

but embargos never last past the games release…

That is very promising! Thanks for the info. I own it on PC but I have a 360 so i may grab this sometime down the road so i can play it on my 70" tv. =]

That is a quote from the developer… I would prefer a slightly less biased opinion. And the gameplay footage is an upload from a twitch stream. I’m not assuming it’s a flaming pile, I would just like to get a slightly more in depth idea of what this product is considering it is officially for sale.

Nice. I almost forgot I kickstarted this little guy. Can’t wait to see the final product!

LOL! ya, producing a functioning product based on technology they created and refined. Then potentially licensing that technology out to others interested in expanding the platform. Definition of patent trolling. Very inciteful commentary sir.

For arguments sake, let’s say FB never says another word to the Oculus team but just remains hands off in hopes of having a stable dev platform to work towards and profit from if it pans out over the long haul. Would you still be upset about the deal just because of where the money came from?

That is a pretty narrow minded view of the future potential of this space. If they hold the right patents on some of this technology they could make that $2b investment look like a drop in the bucket.

Ya, the voice and chat in those matches would be the greatest thing ever!! Every one of them accusing each other of cheating. ‘I can see you looking at me through that wall man, stop cheating!’

I have only one question: Can I raise an army of the undead to do my bidding? I like my mages in more of a necromancy role.
