The Prestige system, which allows players of the past few Call of Duty titles to reset their character's unlocks to earn special bonuses, will also be available for the weaponry of Black Ops 2, game design director David Vonderhaar recently revealed.
"Did you know that you can Prestige any gun two times," Vonderhaar tweeted, responding to a question about Black Ops 2's weapon-leveling mechanics.
Vonderhaar later clarified that the weapon-leveling mechanics would be completely separate from the player Prestige system — to be precise, when a player "Prestiges," resetting his or her level, the Prestige levels they've unlocked for their guns will not be affected.
Players who earn Prestige levels unlock special bonuses otherwise unavailable through the normal leveling process, like additional custom loadout slots. Incentives for weapon Prestige levels have yet to be announced.
