The free Xbox 360 SmartGlass app will become available this week, allowing users to share and stream content across Microsoft devices on Oct. 26, Major Nelson confirmed on his blog.
Users will initially be able to connect their Microsoft devices using the Xbox Video and Xbox Music services made available beginning today with the release of the new Xbox 360 dashboard update. SmartGlass functionality will also be added to Dance Central 3, Kinect Sesame Street TV, and Forza Horizon, Home Run Stars, Karaoke, and Prima Games.
SmartGlass will in addition be available for Halo Waypoint, MSN, Now TV, HBO, NBC, NBA, and ESPN apps. Apps for Windows 8 PCs, tablets, and smartphones will follow and feature dashboard and app navigation, as well as Internet Explorer control through text input, scrolling, and pinch and zoom.
The free SmartGlass app will launch alongside the release of Windows 8 this week. SmartGlass converts all Microsoft devices into a second screen for the entertainment viewed through Xbox 360.
