Strike 5 gaming keyboard with OLED panel coming soon from Mad Catz

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

The Strike 5 is Mad Catz's newest high-end gaming keyboard, and it includes a hardware control panel with an OLED screen, the company announced today.

The device is a modular keyboard, allowing users to swap segments in and out as they please. The five detachable sections are the number pad, three-part palm rest, two wrist rests and the Eye panel. Backlighting with full RGB color — which produces over 16 million hues — is user-controlled, and the keyboard offers 21 user-programmable macro buttons. Nine of them appear on the Eye panel, which provides quick access to controls and a small OLED screen.

Mad Catz has not announced a release date for the Strike 5, but the unit is available for pre-order on the company's website for $199.99. It's unclear if that price includes the chrome scorpion seen above.
