Angry Birds Star Wars video shows off destruction with lightsabers and lasers

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

The first footage of Angry Birds Star Wars, Rovio's mash-up of its ubiquitous mobile game and the massive sci-fi brand, provides a look at the Star Wars-themed birds angrily attacking the Empire's forces.

Luke and Leia birds are seen hanging out to the music from the cantina. Next, Luke launches himself at Empire installations on Tatooine, taking them down with his lightsaber, while Leia fires laser blasters toward AT-ATs on Hoth.

Angry Birds Star Wars launches worldwide on Nov. 8 on iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, PC, Mac, Windows 8 and Windows Phone. According to Rovio, a full gameplay trailer is coming next Monday, Nov. 5.
