Funcom may incorporate elements of the upcoming Conan the Barbarian film reboot starring Arnold Schwarzenegger into its massively multiplayer online role-playing title Age of Conan, according to a post on the game's official forums.
The Legend of Conan is currently in development, with studio Universal aiming for a 2014 release.
Age of Conan game director Craig Morrison posted that the team at Funcom will "see what we can do in conjunction with the movie," saying that the company's good relationship with license distributor Paradox Entertainment makes the collaboration a greater possibility.
"It's a little too early to tell what form that will take, but we will have some great opportunities with this as it all comes together," Morrison wrote. "[CEO Fredrik Malmberg] and the team at Paradox are very excited for this one, and we are definitely looking forward to seeing what we will be able to do alongside it.
"With a 2014 release we will have plenty of time to be working on how to best take advantage of another movie," he added.
Last summer Funcom released the Savage Coast of Turan expansion pack for Age of Conan, adding items to the game that were present in the 2011 Conan the Barbarian movie starring Jason Momoa.
