Mists of Pandaria, the latest expansion to Blizzard's long-reigning MMO champ World of Warcraft, sold 2.7 million copies during its first week on store shelves, the company announced today.
The sales numbers are auspicious for any title, but have slipped significantly from the figures posted by the game's last add-on, Cataclysm, which managed to move 3.3 million units in a single day.
However, the sales were enough to bump the game's subscriber base back over the 10 million mark — a welcome bump for the title, which has slowly declined from its late 2010 peak of 12 million paid players to 9.1 million earlier this year.
According to a press release accompanying the sales figures, the development team is already working on the game's first post-launch content update. Details about the addition will be revealed "in the weeks ahead."
