The creators of Nitronic Rush, a DigiPen student project, are creating a spiritual successor to that award-winning game with Distance, a futuristic racer currently vying for funding on Kickstarter and community support on Steam Greenlight.
Distance's creators at Refract Studios call their survival racing game a mash up of Trials Evolution, Rush 2049, Halo and Tron, a varied list of games from which they drew gameplay and aesthetic inspiration. Like Nitronic Rush, players pilot high-speed futuristic cars that also have limited flight capabilities in Distance. Refract recently released the first "pre-alpha gameplay" video of the game, showing off Distance's atmospheric race tracks.
Distance is slated for release on Windows and Mac PC — with a possible Linux version — in summer 2013. For a taste of the team's previous work, Nitronic Rush is available for download free.
