Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi coming to PSP 'soon'

Aksys Games will release Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi, a new entry into the Hakuouki franchise by Japanese developer Idea Factory, for the PlayStation Portable "soon," the developer announced today.

The game will present two separate storylines: one similar to that in Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, a North American exclusive released for PSP in February of this year; and an alternate version of this story. Warriors of the Shinsengumi lets players choose one of six characters to guide through late Edo period Japan, helping a young woman search for her lost father and stirring up romantic trouble along the way.

The Hakuoki visual novel games take place in feudal Japan, introducing players to the era's broiling politics and a romanticized look at the shinsengumi, the era's special police force through the lens of alternate history. The series has also been adapted into graphic novels and an anime series.
